Apply for an Egypt visa
You can easily apply for the mandatory Egypt visa online for your holiday in 2026. You can pay the fee using credit card, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay or Trustly, after which you will receive your Egypt visa by email. The immigration authorities recommend applying for your Egypt visa several weeks before departure. You can submit your application completely online. There is no need to visit the embassy.

Visa required
All European travellers who do not hold Egyptian nationality must apply for an Egyptian visa. This means that tourists with British or Irish nationality must always have a visa to enter the country. This applies regardless of whether you arrive by plane or cruise ship. The only exception to this requirement applies to travellers visiting Sharm el-Sheikh, Taba, Dahab or Nuweiba for a maximum of 15 days. The immigration authorities recommend starting your application at least one week before departure. The application is generally approved within 11 days. Print the visa and take it with you when you travel.
How to apply for the Egypt visa
Submit your visa application using the online form. This form requires you to enter your contact and travel details, as well as the passport details of all travellers (including children) who will be accompanying you to Egypt. Each traveller must have their own Egypt visa. Provided you have all the necessary information at hand, applying for the required visa usually takes no more than a few minutes per traveller. You do not need to have booked a flight at the time of submitting your application. However, you must have arranged accommodation for at least one night.
Information required for the visa application
Before starting your application, please gather the following details. This will enable you to complete the form for all travellers quickly. Make sure you have the following information at hand for each traveller:
- The passports of all travellers*
- The occupation (or job title) of all passengers
- The travel dates
- Address details of your accommodation
*= A photo, copy or scan of the information page is sufficient. The information page is the page in the passport containing the traveller's name and passport photo.
Did you visit Egypt before?
If you have previously visited Egypt, you will also be asked to provide details about that trip, including: an estimate of the arrival and departure dates, and the address of one of the places where you stayed. These dates can be found in the passport and visa used for the previous trip.
Visiting friends and family in Egypt
If you are travelling to visit friends or family, you can apply for a tourist visa. It is recommended that you carry an invitation letter from the friends or family you will be visiting in Egypt. This letter should include your personal details and the full names and addresses of your contacts in Egypt, as well as the dates of your visit. The immigration authorities may not ask for this document, but if they do, you should be able to present the letter easily.
Itinerary
You do not need to have a complete travel itinerary ready when applying for an Egyptian visa. However, it is recommended that you bring a printed itinerary with you when travelling, containing information about your flights and accommodation addresses. If an Egyptian customs officer asks you about your travel plans, you can show them this itinerary.
Requirements and validity
The validity period of the Egypt visa is 90 days. If you apply for a single-entry visa, you may stay in Egypt once for a maximum of 30 days. If you use the multiple-entry visa, you may enter Egypt multiple times (within the 90-day validity period). The maximum allowed stay remains 30 consecutive days.
